January 15. 

NOTE: the American Prayer Book (APB) has a different order for the Gospel readings. This affects the Antiphon on Magnificat & Benedictus, the lessons in the 3rd Nocturn and the Gospel at Mass. To follow the APB please use the propers indicated in the Breviary for the APB.

Sunday, Sd., Green. At Matins: All as in the Ordinary & Psalter except: Lessons i-iii 2nd Corinthians is begun (C145), lessons iv-vi from C145-146, lessons vi-ix from C146-147. Te Deum is said. At Lauds: all as in the Ordinary & Psalter except what is given as proper on C147. Commemoration of Sts Paul, and Maurus (in that order) using Tables 10b & 9b. At Prime: all as in the Ordinary & Psalter,  No Preces. At the Hours: All as in the Ordinary & Psalter. At Mass: Omnis terra, Gloria is said, first oration: of the Sunday, second oration of St. Paul, third oration of St. Maurus, Preface of the Trinity. II Vespers: all as in the Ordinary & Psalter except Antiphon on Magnificat & Collect see C147, commem of St. Marcellus I (Table 5a), Paul (Table 10c), Maurus (table 9c) collects from Proper of the Saints. At Compline of Sunday, no Preces.

MONDAY – second week after Epiphany

January 16

Feast of St. Marcellus – Semi Double, Red. At Mattins: Inv. & Hymn from Common 5. Apply Rule 1 (p. xli), Psalms & Antiphons of the Feria, lessons i-ii from occurrent Scripture, lesson ii Legend of St. Marcellus. Te Deum. At Lauds: from the chapter of the Feast, Collect E47. At Prime and the Hours: from the chapter of the Feast. At Mass: Statuit (Mass 2), Gloria in Excelsis, oration for St. Marcellus, Epistle & Gospel Mass 3, no Creed, Common Preface, Depart in Peace. Vespers: all as in the Ordinary & Psalter except: from Chapter of the Feast using Common 10.  At Compline: of the Feria.

TUESDAY – second week after Epiphany

January 17

St. Anthony – Double, White. At Mattins: Inv. & Hymn from Common 10. Apply Rule 1 (p. xli), Psalms & Antiphons of the Feria, lessons i-ii from occurrent Scripture, lesson ii Legend of St. Anthony. Te Deum. At Lauds: from the chapter of the Feast, Collect E47. At Prime and the Hours: from the chapter of the Feast. At Mass: Os justi (Mass 16), Gloria in Excelsis, oration for St. Anthony, Gospel from Mass 14, no Creed, Common Preface, Depart in Peace. Vespers: all from Common 7 except what is given as proper on E48-49, w/commem of St. Paul (as in the Proper) and St. Prisca (as in the Proper), finally commem. of St. Anthony (Table 10c)..  At Compline: of the Feria.

WEDNESDAY – second week after Epiphany

January 18

 Chair of St. Peter at Rome – Greater Double, White. At Mattins: 3 Nocturns. All from Common 7 except what is given as proper on E49-E52. Lesson viii is read ignoring the division mark, and leson ix is for St. Prisca. Te Deum. At Lauds: from the chapter of the Feast, Collect E47. At Prime and the Hours: from the chapter of the Feast. At Mass: Statuit (proper), Gloria in Excelsis, oration for the feast, second oration for St. Paul, third oration for St. Prisca, Creed, Preface of the Apostles, Depart in Peace. Vespers: all from Common 7 except what is given as proper on E48-49, w/commem of St. Paul (as in the Proper) and Sts. Maris, Martha, Audifax, & Habakkuk (as in the Proper), and finally St. Canute (Table 5a).  At Compline: of Sunday, no Preces.

THURSDAY – second week after Epiphany

January 19

Maris, Martha, Audifax, Habakkuk, second oration of St. Canute, third oration of the season (St. Mary), Epistle & Gospel from Mass 8,  no Creed, Common Preface, Depart in Peace. Vespers: all as in the Ordinary & Psalter except: from Chapter of the Feast using Common 6.  At Compline: of the Feria.

Fabian & Sebastian, no Creed, Common Preface, Depart in Peace. Vespers: all as in the Proper for the Feast of St. Agnes. Psalms of Vespers 3, Antiphons from Lauds, w/commem. of Sts. Fabian & Sebastian.  At Compline: of the Feria.

SATURDAY – second week after Epiphany

January 21

At Mattins: 3 Nocturns,  Inv. & Hymn from Common 12,  Psalms & Antiphons from Common 5, lessons i-iii from Common 13 w.proper Responses, lessons iv-vi from Proper of the Saints, Nocturn III Pss. 15, 45, 46 w/ proper Antiphons, lessons vii-ix from Common 12. Te Deum. At Lauds: from the chapter of the Feast, Collect E58. At Prime and the Hours: from the chapter of the Feast.
