NOTE: Antiphons are doubled only on doubles, greater doubles, and doubles of I & II Class.

1. THE FEAST OF ALL SAINTS Double I Class w/Octave

All as for the Feast on p. E495-E505.

At Vespers I Vespers the Pss of Vespers 3 but at II Vespers Pss of Vespers 2 at both Ants from Lauds & rest as on p. E495, Collect from Lauds p. E496. No Suffrage.

At Matins 3 Nocturns. Inv & Hymn, Pss, Ants, Lessons, RR all from Proper (E496-E504). Te Deum is taken.

At Lauds Pss from Sunday Ants, Chapter, Hymn, V/R, Ant on Magn, Collect from Proper E504-505. No Suffrage.

Little Hours Pss from Sunday rest from Proper, at Prime (Prime 1) no Preces.

At Vespers as above at I Vespers. No Suffrage. Immediately after II Vespers of All Saints is said the Vespers of the Dead as indicated on p. E506. The Vespers of the Dead is said as on p. H1-H4 once the Magnificat and its Antiphon have been concluded the conclusion of the Office is as on p E506-7 (Ants are doubled, Ps 156 is not taken).

Compline as on p. E507-8.

2. THE COMMEMORATION OF ALL THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED, double.

Formerly the Office of the Octave would first be said and after Lauds the Matins & Lauds of the Dead would follow. The Compline from last night would have been of the Sunday. Since the reforms of St. Pius X this day has been given its own propers for every Hour such as it is contained in the Anglican Breviary. To follow the ancient use only the Vespers, Matins, and Lauds of the Dead are to be said immediately following the Office of the day (for which the propers from the Third Day in the Octave (p. E518-9) ought to be used (Lessons i-iii are the transferred readings from Sunday – Ezekiel) and on Nov 3 St. Winifred would be celebrated (S71).

At Matins (unless the ancient method be preferred) 3 Nocturns. Inv & Hymn as for the Office of the Dead (H8), rest as from the Proper (E508-11). No Te Deum.

At Lauds as in the Office of the Dead p. H17-21 and when the Ant on Ben has been repeated conclusion as at I Vespers.

Anciently this concludes the Office all the Faithful Departed, but under St. Pius X the Office continues as follows:

Little Hours all as given in the Poper (E512-18).

Following None the Mass of the Dead (Requiem) is said as in the Missal for this day. If necessary all Priests may say as many as 3 Masss today as given in the Missal.

At Vespers all from the Ordinary & Psalter but from the Chapter of the Feast of St. Winifred (S71) & Common 12 as needed w/commem of All Saints using Ant on Magn of II Vespers.

3. St. Winifred, V.M.

All as in the Ordinary & Psalter except:

At Matins of 1 Nocturn (using Rule 1 p. xli): Inv & Hymn from Common 12. Pss & Ants from Psalter. Lessons i-ii from the transferred readings of the previous Sunday (combining ii-iii into one lesson), lesson iii Legend from S71, Te Deum is taken.

At Lauds Pss & Ants from Ordinary & Psalter from Chapter of the Feast using Common 12, Collect from S71. No Suffrage.

Little Hours from Chapter of the Feast. At Prime no Preces.

At Vespers all as for the Feast of St. Charles Borromeo using Common 7. Pss & Ants from Ordinary & Psalter, from Chapter of the Feast (Common 7), Collect E519-20 w/commem of the Octave (Ant on Magn from II Vespers) followed by a commem of SS Vitalis & Agricola (Table 6a). No Suffrage.

Compline of the feria, no Preces.

4. St. Charles Borromeo, B.C.

All as in the Ordinary & Psalter except:

At Matins 3 Nocturns. Inv & Hymn from Common 7. Pss & Ants as in the Psalter. Lessons i-iii ferial; iv-vi from the Proper E520-21 w/R.R. From Common 7; Gospel & Homily from Common 7 series 1, Lesson ix of SS Vitalis & Agricola. Te Deum is taken.

At Lauds from Chapter of the Feast w/commem of the Octave followed a commem of SS Vitalis & Agricola (Table 6b).

The Little Hours from the Chapter of the Feast, at Prime no Preces.

Vespers from Chapter of the Feast, Collect from Proper w/commem of the Octave.

Compline of the feria, no Preces.

5. Fifth day in the Octave (sd)

At Matins 3 Nocturns. Inv & Hymn from the Feast. Pss & Ants as in the Psalter. Lessons i-iii occurrent Scripture (Ezekiel); iv-vi from the Proper (E523-4); vii-ix from the Proper (E524-5), Te Deum is taken.

At Lauds Pss & Ants as in the Psalter, from Chapter of the Feast. No Suffrage.

The Little Hours from the Chapter of the Feast (Prime 1).

Vespers as for the II Vespers of the Feast.

6. Sixth Day in the Octave (sd)

At Matins 3 Nocturns. Inv & Hymn if the Feast. Pss & Ants as in the Psalter. Lessons i-iii of the Feria; iv-vi of the Sixth Day (E525-6); vii-ix of the Sixth Day (E526-7). Te Deum is taken.

At Lauds all as in the Ordinary & Psalter from the Chapter of the Feast. No Suffrage.

At Vespers all as in the Psalter & Ordinary from the Chapter of the Feast of St. Willibrord using Common 7, Collect p. E527 w/commem. of All Saints (using Ant Magn & V/R from II Vespers).

7. St. Willibrord (d)

Lauds Pss & Ants from the Psalter from Chapter of Willibrord using Common 7 w/commem. Of All Saints. No Suffrage.

The Little Hours from the Chapter of the Feast using Common 7.

At Vespers all from Saturday Vespers w/commem of All Saints (from I Vespers) and w/commem of Willibrord (Table 7c), finally the commem. of the Four Crowned Martyrs (Table 6a), Collect from E530.

8. Octave Day of All Saints (gd)

Per the instructions on p. C656 this week we do not use the propers of the Second Week of November but rather those of the third week of November (p. C656).

At Matins 3 Nocturns. Inv & Hymn as in the Ordinary & Psalter. Pss & Ants as in the Psalter. Lessons i-iii from Daniel; iv-vi St. Athanasius; vii-ix XXIII Sunday (C698-9), Te Deum is taken. Nothing from the Octave Day, St. Willibrord, or the Four Crowned Martyrs.

Lauds all as in the Ordinary & Psalter, Collect Trinity XXIII w/commem of Octave Day, St. Willibrord, Four Crowned Martyrs. No Suffrage.

The Little hours all as in the Psalter & Ordinary, Collect from Trinity XXIII.

At Vespers all as in the Psalter & Ordinary, Collect from Trinity XXIII w/commem of the Octave Day & St. Willibrord (Table 7c). No Suffrage.
