Ordo Simple Kalendar ~ March 18th-19th 2010


Until None of the Saturday before the Fifth Sunday in Lent or Passion Sunday, inclusive, the Invitatory & Hymn at Matins, the Hymn & Versicle at Lauds & Vespers, the Brief Lesson at Prime, and the Brief Responds at the (little) Hours, in both the Sunday and Ferial Offices, are taken from the Ordinary as given for Lent.

On Ferias until Wednesday in Holy Week inclusive, the Psalms of Lauds 2 are said, and on Wednesday at Matins Nocturn III is said according to Scheme 2; the Antiphons are as given in the Psalter except in Holy Week at Lauds, when they are proper. At Prime, a fourth Psalm is added and the Preces are said daily in the Ferial Office at all Hours (except Matins since the latter has no Preces).

Psalms and Antiphons from Psalter at all Hours except Vespers.

At Matins, Inv. & Hymn from Common 8 (F83) Matins is of one Nocturn. Lesson i is from Common 8 with its Respond. Lesson ii is the Legend (E117). Lesson iii is the Ferial Gospel Homily followed by Te Deum(C261-3).

At Lauds, Psalms & Ant., from Psalter. All else according to Common 8. No Preces, Collect from Proper (E116). No Common Comm., but Feria is commemorated (C263,  A22).

At Vespers, Psalms from Vespers 3, Antiphons from Proper (E118). All else according to I Vespers from Proper (E118) No Preces. Collect from Proper (E123).Commemoration of Feria only (C263, A42, see directions on p. E117).

From this Vespers until Trinity Sunday inclusive, the Suffrage of the Saints is omitted even on Feasts.

Compline is of Sunday.

Today and thereafter until Wednesday in Holy Week inclusive, the R. R. at Compline and the Hours, in both Sunday and Ferial Office, are said without the Glory be, as in the Ordinary for Passiontide.

Psalms and Antiphons according to the Proper (E118-124) for all Hours.

At Matins, Inv. & Hymn from Proper (E119). Matins is of three Nocturns. Lesson i with its Respond is from Proper (E119-120). Lesson ii with its Respond is from Proper (E120-1). Lesson iii with its Respond is from Proper (E121) ixth Lesson is from Feria (C261-3). Te Deum is said.

At Lauds, Psalms & Ant., according to Proper. All else also according to Proper. No Preces. Collect from Proper (E123), comm., of Feria (C263, A22).

Vespers, Psalms according to Proper (Vespers 3), all else also according to Proper. Collect from Proper. Comm., of Feria (C163, A42).

Compline is of Sunday.
